County Sligo Golf Club - County Sligo Golf Club is situated at Rosses Point, a seaside village eight kilometres north west of Sligo town, and is one of the oldest and best known links courses in Ireland. The club was founded in 1894 on land leased from Henry Middleton. He was an uncle of W.B. Yeats, the famous poet and Nobel Prize winner for literature, and his brother Jack B Yeats, the noted landscape painter. The links are set out on one of the most scenic locations in Ireland - bounded by the Atlantic Ocean on the west; Benbulben Mountain dominates the view on the northern skyline. Even when it's cloudy, it's easy on the eye!
Donegal Golf Club - Donegal Golf Club was founded in 1959 and the first golf course and clubhouse was built on the edge of Donegal Town at Tullycullion. The land for this course was granted to the club for their use by the Temple family, owners of the Magee & Co. The club remained there until 1973. In the early 70’s some far-sighted members identified the links land of the Murvagh Penninsula as being more than suitable for a golf course. The land was leased from the then Dept of Lands and Ireland ’s leading golf course designer at the time, Eddie Hackett was hired to design an 18-hole golf course on the Murvagh links. In whatever order you were to play these 3 great courses, you could not get it wrong!
